Biography
Soprano Stephanie Mann, a native of Richmond, Virginia, is a graduate of The Boston Conservatory with a Masters of Music in Voice and Opera Performance. There, she appeared as St. Settlement in Virgil Thompson's Four Saints in Three Acts, Alice in Alice in Wonderland, Amor in Cavalli's L'Egisto, and Lucia di Lammermoor in the one-act Opera A Fatal Song.
She spent her undergraduate years at Brandeis University where she appeared as Aldonza in Man of La Mancha and was featured in Godspell, Celebration, and Rags. She has held leading roles in The Sorcerer, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Master Class, The Mikado, Patience, The Secret Garden, King Richard's Faire, Iolanthe, Follies, The Sound of Music, Massenet's Cendrillon, Big River, The Grand Duke, Verdi's Falstaff, and has been a featured soloist with Longwood Opera, Opera by the Bay, Wellesley Choral Society, and Mass Theatrica.
In 2004, she sang the role of Alexandra in the Boston Opera Project's inaugural production of Marc Blitzstein's Regina and made her debut at the Raylynmor Opera as Ruth in their production of Gilbert and Sullivan's Ruddigore. The next year she sang the role of Amy in the New England Premiere of Mark Adamo's Little Women, also with the Boston Opera Project. In 2006 she made her debut with the Asheville Lyric Opera Company as Second Lady and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte and in 2007 she made her mainstage debut singing Cherubino with Worcester Opera Works in their production of The Marriage of Figaro. That fall she sang the role of Mme. Herz in Mass Theatrica's production of Mozart's The Impresario, a role she then repeated with Worcester Opera Works. She made her debut with Riverside Theatreworks in the role of Kate in Pirates of Penzance and returned to play Eulalie Shinn in The Music Man and Lady Thiang in The King and I. She performed as the Soprano soloist/Fanny Mill in Longwood Opera's Tribute to Rossini/The Marriage Contract, Mrs. Gobineau in Mass Theatrica's The Medium and in October, 2009, she created the title role in the World Premiere of Gabriella Snyder's The Rough-Face Girl: An Algonquin Cinderella with Mass Theatrica.
Recent roles include Fiordiligi in Cosí fan tutte at Riverside Theatre Works and Mass Theatrica, Woglinde, The Forest Bird, and Gutrune in Longwood Opera's Tales from Der Ring des Niebelungen, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni with the New England Opera Theatre, Musetta in La Bohème with Mass Theatrica, Stiffy Byng in By Jeeves with The Cannon Theater, and Lady Manley-Prowe in Something's Afoot with the Walpole Footlighters . In 2012 she joined the roster of Boston Opera Collaborative where she has been featured as a soloist and appeared as Minerva in Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld and covered the role of Clorinda in Rossini's Cinderella August, 2013. She returned to Longwood Opera as First Lady and First Spirit in their production of Mozart's The Magic Flute and future performances include Edith in The Pirates of Penzance in a joint 'Last Minute' production with Longwood Opera and the New England Gilbert and Sullivan Society.
An active proponent for creating and encouraging artistic opportunities, she has served on the Board of Boston Singers Resource as the Clerk, the Boston Opera Project, and the New England Gilbert and Sullivan Society where she also served as Program Chair. She recently served as the Concert and Events Coordinator and Alumni Relations Manager with Boston Opera Collaborative.
